Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and the benefits of community service. The first is the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. A second reason was Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. The National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in the year 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the country. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993 he joined at the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
